We invest early and stay involved.

Pale Horse Capital is a venture capital firm. We provide financing to startups and emerging companies, from seed through later rounds. We are venture catalysts as much as venture capitalists — the investment is where our work begins rather than where it ends.

What we do

Venture investment

We take equity positions in early- and growth-stage companies, participating from seed through later financing rounds.

Startup financing

We fund founders at the stage where the company is still being built rather than scaled, and we reserve capital to follow on as they grow.

Catalysing what follows

After the wire clears we stay useful: hiring, go-to-market, board-level guidance, and introductions across our network of operators and co-investors.

Where we focus

Sectors we have backed or are actively looking at. If you are adjacent to one of these rather than squarely inside it, send the deck anyway.

Biotechnology

Therapeutics, diagnostics and the tools underneath them. We are comfortable with long development timelines where the science is genuinely differentiated and the regulatory path is understood rather than hoped for.

Pharmaceutical generics

Generics and biosimilars, ANDA filings, manufacturing and supply. A market where regulatory fluency and cost discipline decide outcomes more often than novelty does.

Pet products and services

The full range: food, health, accessories, retail and care. Household spending here has held up through downturns that flattened comparable consumer categories.

Artificial intelligence

Applied AI rather than foundation models. We are most interested in teams putting it to work inside a specific industry, where the data and the domain knowledge are hard for a competitor to assemble.

Defense, cyber and aerospace

Cybersecurity, uncrewed aerial systems, and the hardware and software around them. Dual-use is welcome. Fluency with procurement cycles and export-control obligations counts for a great deal here.

Government contract fulfillment

Companies that win public-sector contracts and deliver against them, including the logistics and software that make fulfillment work. Slow to start and durable once established.

Gaming

Studios, platforms, tooling and the infrastructure beneath them. We look for teams who treat retention and monetization as design problems rather than as something bolted on at the end.

How a pitch moves through the firm

Send your deck

Email it directly. No warm introduction required and no forms to fill out.

We read it

Every deck that reaches us gets read by someone at the firm, usually within a week.

You hear back

We respond either way. If it isn't a fit, we will say so plainly rather than leave you waiting.

What we hope to find in a deck

The problem, and whose it is

Name the specific person or business that feels this today. A market described in billions tells us less than one customer described precisely.

What actually exists

Where the product is now, not where the roadmap says it will be next quarter. A rough thing in real use beats a polished thing in preview.

Whatever evidence you have

Revenue, retention, usage, pipeline, signed letters of intent. Small numbers are fine and early is fine. Absent numbers are fine if you say so. Vague numbers are the problem.

Why this team

What you understand about this problem that most people attempting it would not. Time spent inside it usually matters more than logos on a slide.

Why now

What changed that makes this possible today and left it impossible three years ago. Cost, regulation, behaviour, a new capability.

The ask

How much you are raising, what it buys, and how long it lasts. If terms are already set or a lead is in place, say so early.

Common questions

Do I need a warm introduction?

No. A cold email arrives in the same inbox as a referral and gets read the same way. We would rather hear from you directly than not hear from you because you could not find a mutual connection.

Will you sign an NDA before looking at my deck?

Not at the first-look stage. Send the version of your deck you are comfortable sharing and hold back anything you are not. If a conversation progresses, we can talk about what protection makes sense.

What happens to my deck after I send it?

It is read inside the firm. We do not circulate it to other investors or to companies we have backed without asking you first.

Am I the right stage or size for you?

Rather than guess from a range on a website, email us. We can usually tell you quickly whether you are in scope, and if you are not, we will say so rather than leave it open.

Why isn't there more here about the firm?

We keep a deliberately small public footprint and talk about ourselves directly with founders we are in conversation with. If there is something you need to know before sending us anything, ask and we will answer.
